Crochet This Super Quick, Easy Breezy Square

If you are looking for a quick and easy crocheted square, then the Easy Breezy Square is a perfect fit for you.  This square only has 4 rounds, uses the basics stitches and is great for using up odds and ends of yarn.  

This Easy Breezy Square is a simple granny square that makes up quick and is great for using up scraps of yarn.  Great portable project to take anywhere with you.  Great square for beginners and seasoned crocheters looking for a quick project.  Grab you supplies and let’s get creating.

I will briefly go over the basics in this post, but the video tutorial below will walk you through the entire process. So be sure to scroll down and watch it after you have checked out the rest of the instructions.  Then you can work through it along with me.

Supplies and Materials

Skill Level: Easy

Tools and Supplies:

Yarn: Med weight size 4

Hook:  5.00 mm  US 8 / H

Other Supplies:

Scissors

Yarn needle for darning in ends

Finished Size:

3.5 inches  x 3.5 inches

Abbreviations

ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sl st – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
rnd – round
beg – beginning
prev – previous
sp – space
sk – skip
rep – repeat

Easy Breezy Square Instructions

Foundation: Use a Magic Ring OR Ch 4, sl st in first ch, to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 ( counts as first dc ) work 11 more dc into ring, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-3.   ( 12 dc )

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in same ch as join,  2 sc in each dc around, join with a sl st in first sc.   ( 24 sc )

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, * hdc in next st, dc in next st, ( dc , ch 3, dc ) in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * 2 more times then hdc in next st, dc in next st, ( dc , ch 3, dc ) in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, join with a sl st in first sc.   ( 4 sc, 8 hdc, 16 dc, 4 ch-3 sp )

Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, sc in each of next 3 sts, ( sc, ch 3, sc ) into ch-3 sp, * sc in each of next 7 sts, ( sc, ch 3, sc ) into next ch-3 sp, rep from *2 more times, sc in each of next 3 sts, join with a sl st in first st, fasten off.  ( 36 sc, 4 ch-3 sp

To finish off, weave in your loose ends, and block gently for a finished look.

This square will work with any size yarn and the appropriate hook size for that yarn.  This pattern is written suggesting a worsted weight and a 5.00 mm and the finished size reflects this.
