I love what happens when you start moving the colo

I love what happens when you start moving the colours around in a crochet square.

The Dancing Diamond is the same square in all of these, but changing where the colours go can really change what you see.

In one, your eye goes straight to the centre. In another, the diamonds stand out. Change the colours again and suddenly the outside of the square becomes the focus.

Nothing about the pattern has changed. It’s just the colours doing their thing.

This is why I love playing with colour so much. I can sit and move colours around for ages, trying this and that just to see what happens.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but that’s all part of the fun.

Let’s have a little colour play with the Dancing Diamond!

I’ve been having so much fun experimenting with this square, trying different colour palettes, changing up the stitches and seeing how those little changes can completely transform the look.

I’ve shared five of my colour experiments in a new post over in the Patreon Studio, from soft and subtle to autumn colours, Christmas colours and even a little Victorian vibe. It’s amazing what happens when you let the colours dance around a design!

The Dancing Diamond is here!

I’m having SO much fun with this one! I really love the way this square moves as the colours change, and this blue and green mix is just so calm and soothing to work with.

I’ve got lots more colour play planned for this one, so I’ll be sharing different ideas and combinations throughout the month. I can’t wait to see what you guys do with it too!

Small squares are basically crochet doodling for me.

They’re the perfect little place to play with colour, try a combination I’ve never used before, or just see what happens when I put two colours together.

No big project. No commitment. No worrying about using up a whole skein.

Just grab a few scraps, pick up your hook and play.

And you never know where those little doodles might take you. One day they might become a blanket, a pillow, a bag… or just a happy little collection of colour sitting in a basket waiting for inspiration.

Sometimes the best ideas start with one tiny square.

I love shapes! Circles, squares, hexagons, octagons... give me all of them!

The Leila Square has a whole lot of shapes wrapped up into one little square, which is probably why I love it so much.

And yes... I just pulled out the Christmas colours! I know, I know... it’s still August, but as crocheters, we’re already thinking ahead!

Okay... I think I’m ready. 🍂🧶

I’ve started pulling out my autumn colours and I’m loving them! There’s something about those rich greens, warm reds, golden tones and cozy neutrals that gets my crochet brain going.

We had a lovely cool breeze today and I could actually feel a little hint of fall in the air. I absolutely love this time of year, so I’m very happy to start playing with these colours again. ❤️🍁

I’m starting a little Small Squares series! 🧶💕 I have quite a collection of these little designs, so I thought it was time to gather them all together into a playlist.

First up is Dot, the simplest little square of the bunch!

Just 3 rounds and about 3 inches, so it’s quick, easy, and perfect for those little bits of yarn hiding in your stash.

Use it alongside a larger square, mix a bunch together for a scrappy project, or just play with colour and see what happens.

Tiny square, lots of possibilities! 🌸
