One of my favourite things about this blanket is how it ended up with that eclectic quilt feel. Each square feels like its own little story, but when you put them all together, they create one big picture. It’s colourful, textured, and slightly imperfect—just like a handmade quilt.

That’s the joy of mixing lots of colours and textures—it doesn’t have to match perfectly to belong. The balance comes from repetition and rhythm, not strict rules.

When I was designing this blanket, I kept coming back to flowers. I wanted each square to have a little nod to the garden theme, so I leaned into a blossom-like effect. By repeating the same neutral in one round of every square, it created the illusion of petals opening up and catching the light—almost like the sun on a garden bed.

It’s a small detail, but it ties the whole blanket together and gives it that floral charm I was after.

Every blanket starts with a spark of inspiration,

Every blanket starts with a spark of inspiration, and for this one, it was the charm of an old English country garden. I wanted to capture that late-summer moment when the flowers are in full bloom, the stone walls are warm in the sun, and there’s a mix of wildness and structure all around. That feeling of history, colour, and coziness—all wrapped up in stitches.

This palette grew out of that vision, and it became my Country Garden Blanket—a mix of soft neutrals, earthy reds, warm terracottas, and deep greens, with just enough brightness to keep it lively.
